Former President Donald Trump met the law enforcement officers who stopped the man accused of attempting to assassinate him.

The Martin County sheriff and several deputies gathered with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Tuesday.

“Great job, thank you very much,” Trump said to the officers. “I’m still here.”

Earlier this week, American Faith reported that the FBI reportedly received a tip that Ryan Wesley Routh, the second attempted assassin of Trump, possessed a firearm in 2019.

Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Miami Field Office, Jeffrey Veltri, told reporters during a press conference: “Law Enforcement checks revealed that from 1997 to 2010, the subject had numerous felony charges for stolen goods.”

“I can also share with you that he was the subject of a previously closed 2019 tip to the FBI where it was alleged he was a felon in possession of a firearm,” he said.

“In following up on the tip, the alleged complainant was interviewed and did not verify — I repeat, did not verify — providing the initial information. The FBI passed that information to local law enforcement in Honolulu.”

One of Routh’s criminal counts alleges that he illegally possessed a gun despite having felony convictions, the Associated Press reported. Routh’s other charge alleges that the firearm’s serial number was obliterated.
