Wondering what to cook on chilly days? Juicy beef goulash is the clear choice. Although it takes some time to prepare, it’s not complicated at all, so even a beginner can master it. Just toss a few ingredients into a pot and let it simmer away. All that’s left is to add some bread on the side, or you can eat it as is. It also makes an excellent packed lunch.

Ingredients:

  • 600 g lean beef (rump)
  • 400 g potatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 2 white peppers
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.3 litres water
  • 2 tsp ground paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp whole cumin
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • ground chilli to taste
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

Take a large pot, place it on the hob, and sauté the roughly chopped onions in olive oil until they’re translucent. Add the cubed beef, pre-seasoned with salt, and continue cooking. Next, stir in the paprika, smoked paprika, cumin, and chilli to taste, and briefly fry everything together. Peel and chop the tomatoes and peppers into large chunks, then add them to the pot. Pour in the water and simmer the goulash for about 2-3 hours, until the beef is tender. In the meantime, peel the potatoes, chop them up into cubes, then add them to the goulash, cooking for an additional 20 minutes.
