Irene Aldana's 'worst cut in UFC history' looks very different days later

Time heals, and that looks to be the case for Irene Aldana’s ‘worst cut in UFC history’.

The UFC women’s bantamweight division has been on fire of late, and Aldana has been a huge part of that. Putting on back to back fight-of-the-night contenders — with one of those being Jon Anik’s 2023 fight of the year — the 36-year-old has been a joy to watch.

Despite coming up short at the Las Vegas Sphere, Irene Aldana showed her true Mexican fighting spirit in defeat last time out. An accidental clash of heads left Aldana with one of the worst cuts in combat sports history, but that didn’t stop her from charging forward and putting on a show for the fans.

Now, one week following the facial laceration sustained at UFC 306, Aldana looks to be recovering well.

A fan on social media managed to collect several pictures of the Mexican, showing each stage of her recovery and the progress she has made since fight night.

Unfortunately for the UFC veteran and her willing dance partner Norma Dumont, they were unable to pick up a bonus for their unforgettable matchup.

Those honors instead went to Esteban Ribovics and Daniel Zellhuber. The all-action lightweight clash lit up The Sphere, as both men traded bombs for their 15-minute affair.

How did Irene Aldana respond to receiving one of the worst cuts in UFC history?

In the aftermath of her incredible show of heart, the former UFC title challenger only elevated her star power with a social media post, declaring that she’s ready to get back in the cage.

“Just another day at the office,” Aldana said on social media one day after UFC 306. “It was amazing to be part of this event.”

“I’m just fine. Thank you all for your support and love. Recovered and ready for the next one.”
