The Microsoft acquisitions have helped the company to garner such studios as Bethesda, which helped to publish Starfield as an Xbox exclusive. There have been many studios since then, and the more recent Activision-Blizzard acquisition brought many studios with it. Xbox continues to announce and release titles from various studios. Many are curious about what games to expect to be exclusive to Xbox and which are coming to the PS5. Guitar Hero is one such IP that Activision owns, and with that, players are curious if it is going to be heading to PS5 at some point.

Will Guitar Hero Be Coming to PS5?

Guitar Hero is not currently coming to PS5 and is not likely to be releasing on the console. Various Xbox-exclusive titles like Sea of Thieves and Grounded have made their way to the PlayStation 5. However, Guitar Hero will most likely not release for PS5 as it would be another prominent title to draw players to purchase an Xbox to play. Furthermore, the iconic music game series has not received a new title since 2015’s Guitar Hero Live for PS4.

Microsoft could change course, as it has with other titles, and release Guitar Hero on PlayStation. The series would greatly benefit from being sold on multiple consoles rather than exclusive. Additionally, the games have always been a multiplatform series, including on Nintendo consoles. So, seeing Guitar Hero relegated to a single-console family would be a shock. However, we will not know until Microsoft announces the next title.

What Game is Similar to Guitar Hero on PS5?

Although Guitar Hero is currently not on PS5, there are a couple of alternate options for PlayStation players to enjoy on PS5 currently. The different titles are:

  • Fortnite Festival: Although it started as a spin-off, Fortnite Festival provides players with different instruments to play. Harmonix, the team behind Rock Band, created it. While some of the music rotates out weekly, players can use PDP Guitar Controllers and relive the old Guitar Hero times as closely as possible.
  • Rocksmith+: Developed by Ubisoft, Rocksmith+ allows players to learn how to play Guitar, Piano, and Bass. Although the game is a deeper, more simulated approach, it still has the note sequence hitting foundation made popular with Guitar Hero.

There are a few options to play a music-playing game on PlayStation 5. However, the above options are solid choices for PlayStation players until Microsoft provides more details on a revival of Guitar Hero.
