These five Apple products will likely be discontinued next month

Apple is expected to hold their next keynote in October, with a focus on the iPad and Mac. However, the introduction of new products also means saying goodbye to older ones. These are some Apple products you probably won’t be able to buy from the Apple Store after that keynote.

M3 MacBook Pros

Apple is expected to unveil new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros next month, with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. Other than the chip upgrades, the new MacBook Pro will be mostly the same. No design changes are expected, although it’s likely that the base model MacBook Pro will start with 16GB of RAM.

There’s also a good chance that the base model MacBook Pro will come in Space Black, rather than Space Gray.

M2 Mac mini

Next month, Apple will be unveiling the largest redesign to Mac mini in 14 years, with a much smaller design, ports on the front, and more. Apple last updated the Mac mini in January 2023, with M2 and M2 Pro chips. The last update brought the first Mac mini with a Pro chip, and we’re expecting M4 and M4 Pro chips with the Mac mini redesign next month.

M3 iMac

We’re also expecting a new refresh to the iMac next month, bumping up from the M3 chip to the M4 chip. It’ll also likely be a light refresh, although we’re likely to see the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad transition from Lightning to USB-C.

iPad mini 6

Apple is expected to finally update the iPad mini, marking the first refresh in 3 years. We’ll be getting a new chip that supports Apple Intelligence, likely the A18. Apple Pencil Pro support, a new display that fixes jelly scrolling, and 128GB of storage on the base model are also likely.

iPad 10?

There are some conflicting rumors on whether or not we’ll be getting a new base model iPad next month. According to Ross Young, panels for the base model iPad will start shipping this month, indicating a spring release.

However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also stated a few weeks ago that “new, lower-end iPads” are in the works for October, suggesting both the base model iPad and iPad mini will get a refresh.

It remains to be seen what Apple’s iPad plans are, but if we’re trusting Gurman, then the iPad 10 will likely be phased out next month in favor of the 11th generation iPad.

If you were in the market for any of these products, it’s probably a good idea to hold out for next month’s Apple Event.
