Seven months after being terminated from his role as President of TNA Wrestling, Scott D’Amore has moved forward, launching the Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling promotion in Ontario, Canada. With their first series of shows set for October, D’Amore is ready to reshape the Canadian wrestling scene.
After his departure from Anthem Sports & Entertainment, D’Amore didn’t sit idle. He revealed on K100 w/ Konnan & Disco that he even tried to buy TNA Wrestling after he was let go, stating that his vision for the rebranded TNA was strong. However, despite his offer to acquire the company and take it to the next level, the deal didn’t materialize.
“I tried to buy the company after I got let go,” D’Amore explained, setting the record straight. “I thought I knew where to take it, and I was willing to put my money and others’ money behind it. But ultimately, that offer was turned down.”
With the sting of his exit behind him, D’Amore focused on his next project—Maple Leaf Pro. One of his goals is to spotlight Canadian talent, which he feels has often been overlooked due to the complications of work visas and cross-border opportunities. He noted that his mission is to help Canadian wrestlers get seen and recognized on a bigger stage.
Maple Leaf Pro is not just a one-man operation. D’Amore has assembled a stellar production team, including longtime wrestling producer Keith Mitchell, who is coming out of retirement to help. Mitchell’s storied career spans World Class Championship Wrestling, WCW’s Nitro and Thunder, and stints with TNA and AEW. D’Amore expressed his excitement about working with Mitchell, stating, “For Keith to come up and be part of the team, it’s an honor. He has so much knowledge, and he’s one of the best.”
As Maple Leaf Pro gears up for its debut, fans are eager to see how D’Amore’s vision will unfold and how the promotion will contribute to the wrestling landscape in Canada.
