On a visit to Valdosta, Georgia, Donald Trump made a stop to deliver essential aid including food, water, and other supplies on Monday in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s destruction. Accompanying him was Franklin Graham, the elder son of Billy Graham and the leader of Samaritan’s Purse as well as the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Upon his arrival, Trump shared plans to collaborate with Graham and his organization, Samaritan’s Purse, to facilitate the distribution of the aid to those affected.

In Valdosta, Trump conveyed to the locals, “We came down with truckloads of things, and we’re going to have that done by Franklin’s incredible organization. They’ve done such a good job. We’ve done this before, but we have a lot of truckloads of different items, from oil to water, to all sorts of equipment that’s going to help” those in Georgia.

He went on to express his solidarity, saying, “We’re here today to stand in complete solidarity with the people of Georgia, with all of the suffering and the terrible aftermath of Hurricane Helene.” During his speech, Trump paused for a moment of silence to honor the 91 lives lost to the hurricane.

Trump also appealed for unity beyond political divides by stating, “We’re not talking about politics now, we all have to get together to get this solved.”

Following Trump, Franklin Graham shared words of hope, “Yes, there are storms in life, but God will take us through those storms if we put our faith and trust in his son, Jesus Christ,” before leading a prayer with those gathered.
