Ayiti Toma – Celebrating Haitian Culture

For the whole of its history, AYITI and the Haitian people have been punished. From within, by unscrupulous power-thirsty men and from without, by international forces that still today do not seem to want to let Haitians live a decent free life. The current political situation and the rise in insecurity have only made things worse. Haiti’s has suffered bad press for as long as it exists, one of poverty, violence, corruption and black magic. The current situation can only further blemish the country’s image and give credence to those who perpetuate the stereotype of Haiti as a bad child and a failed state.

This short video is a tribute to the Haitian people and the beauty and richness of Haitian culture. In the words of Aimé Cézaire, AYITI is in the Caribbean the place where the values of negritude were not only preserved but flourished magnificently in the cultural domain. When we remember the epic that represents Haitian history, we must not forget that Haiti does not enjoy the freedom that it has been granted. This freedom, the Haitians conquered it and they conquered it for all the Negroes of the world.

This short clip was produced using existing footage published on youtube by various organizations, individuals and production companies. Below is the list of copyright owners and youtube video links.
