Strengthened Academic Cooperation with Spain
As part of academic cooperation, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Carl Eric Barthelus of the Embassy of Haiti in the Kingdom of Spain, met with Ms. María Luisa Humanes Humanes, Vice-Rector of International Relations of the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC). The discussion focused on strengthening the partnership between Haitian and Spanish Universities. The agreement currently being signed between the Jean Price Mars Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the URJC, as well as the possibility of greater participation of Haitian students and professors in the programs offered by the URJC, particularly the Erasmus +KA 171 program, were discussed during this meeting.

CPT : umpteenth meeting on Security
Monday, October 28, 2024 Transition Advisors Fritz Alphonse Jean, Smith Augustin, Laurent St Cyr, Régine Abraham and Louis Gérald Gilles held a working session with Lieutenant-General Derby Guerrier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H), and Normil Rameau, Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police. Several senior police and army officers also participated in this meeting, the aim of which was to assess the measures put in place by the authorities to restore order throughout the national territory.
The Dev Expo challenge is launched
The Dev Expo challenge is launched. Nearly a hundred teams have submitted their applications, and 22 developer teams are now in the running. Among them, five will have the opportunity to present their technology company to the general public and investors at Dev Expo on December 7, where one of the teams will win the $10,000 challenge. Dev Expo is the largest meeting of IT developers in Haiti, organized by Banj and Syntax Studio, allowing to take stock of the news of the Haitian technological ecosystem and to reveal the latest advances in the sector to the general public.
Optimistic customs revenues
The customs revenue forecasts for the 2024-2025 financial year are 125 billion gourdes. A forecast up 25% compared to the previous financial year. According to the budget decree, 58% of domestic revenues will be collected by the AGD against 41% by the DGI.
