Breaking Amish’s Mama Mary Schmucker has moved to hospice care amid her cancer battle, her daughter-in-law Rebecca Schmucker shared.

Taking to social media, Rebecca shared a photo of Mary via Instagram on Wednesday, November 13, calling on Breaking Amish fans to send well wishes to her mother-in-law as she updated them on her condition.

“I’m making a prayer request for mom. She’s not feeling good the last few weeks and can’t keep anything down and she’s having trouble eating,” Rebecca, 32, wrote. “She is on hospice now.”

She continued, “Her pain has been so bad and they are helping with that. If you could, flood her with positive messages and pray for her to be comfortable and pain free. Thank you!🙏🏼”

Fans were quick to flock to Mary’s Instagram, taking to the comments section to share some positivity and support.

“Stay strong! Holding you in the light and wishing you a swift recovery,” wrote one follower, while another added, “Stay strong😢 the world is praying for you. We Love you❤️”

Another fan wrote, “Praying you feel better. You’ve been such an anchor to your family and an example of unconditional love and support. ❤️”

Mary appeared on TLC reality shows Breaking Amish and Return to Amish, alongside son Abe and daughter-in-law Rebecca. She was initially a recurring cast member but remained on the show following Abe and Rebecca’s departure.

The reality TV star revealed her health struggles in April 2022, sharing via Facebook that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer.

“I just want to give a little update,” Mary wrote at the time. “As you know I have colon cancer, and I am scheduled for surgery this month.”

While the surgery seemingly went well at first, Mary’s condition later took a turn for the worse.

“When I did my surgery, they said they got all of the cancer. Two weeks later they called me and said, ‘You have to come in right away.’” Mary shared via Facebook in June 2022. “Now they tell me, I have stage three cancer, almost stage four. Chemo will not help on stage four. So, why should I even do chemo? But I’m not taking their word for it; I’m going for a second opinion.”

In addition to her Instagram post imploring followers to send love Mary’s way, Rebecca has often praised her mother-in-law via social media.

“Because of you, I know strength, determination and most of all how to live a little,” Rebecca wrote of Mary in September 2022 in a birthday tribute. “Our friendship is something I will treasure forever! You are the wild to my serious side. I appreciate you and everything you have done for us! Love you mom!”

Echoing the sentiment in 2021, Rebecca wrote, “ I’ve got the best mother in law that I could have ever dreamed possible! Love her to bits! ”
