The “caffeine king” Michael Scigliano created the first caffeine diet supplement in the 1980s called “Uptime Energy,” which went from pill form to later becoming one of the most successful energy drinks in the country. He also wrote “Good News About Caffeine and Nutrition.” He says he came up with the idea from watching “The Jetsons” TV show. He explains how supplements work, why pro athletes use them, and then takes calls from “caffeine addicts” that share their obsessions with chocolate, pop, and coffee. This fast-paced WHO radio audio-only interview is from May of 1996. Select “Winzenburg on the Weekend” interviews are available on all major podcast services.
