Sing With The Canaries, Win11 Build 27788 Adds MIDI 2.0 Support

If you are a musician or just like to play with MIDI compatible devices then the new Windows 11 Insider Preview Canary Channel version has a special present for you.  While it does have a few bugs, which is to be expected, it also adds native support for MIDI 2.0.  Until now you needed to rely on OEM drivers, which have been historically awful.  They tend to be buggy and often specific to a single program or instrument, which leads to problems if you try to install more than one.

Purists will probably still prefer sounds produced by an Atari ST or Commodore Amiga but for those who just want to play with MIDI on modern hardware have something to look forward to.  The introduction of MIDI 2.0 will add better connection speeds, two-way communication, and property exchange, and will come to both Windows 11 and Windows 10.  Well, that is if it finalized before Win10 is finally terminated.
