Have You Heard Of Air Motion Transformer Drivers?

The HEDDphone TWO GT has a rather uncommon pair of drivers inside of it, called air motion transformers. These are not the common dynamic drivers we are used to, nor planar magnetic drivers as we’ve started to see in quite a few headphones.  Instead of a driver which is solid, AMT drivers have multiple folds and each fold opens and closes alternatively to squeeze air out.  This gives AMT drivers more surface area as the folds are three dimensional instead of being a single flat surface. HEDDphone claims their use of AMT drivers in the TWO GT will make for better higher frequency reproduction and help instruments with faster transients; think string instruments and cymbals.

TechPowerUp tried them out and were very happy, as this headset incorporated the feedback from themselves and others when they tried the original HEDDphone ONE.  This does come with a cost, expect to pay around $1200 for the HEDDphone TWO GT.  You could get similar results from many headsets that are attached to a decent equalizer for less money, however for the audiophile there might be enough to the sound quality produced by AMT drivers to make it worth the price tag.
