Harrison Jones, a 21-year-old Michigan man, has been charged after allegedly driving over 700 miles and burning down the home of a Pennsylvania man dating his ex-girlfriend.

According to WZZM 13, the arson incident occurred around 5:17 a.m. on February 10. That morning, a family of six people were sleeping inside their two-story home in Bensalem. A woman, identified as the mother in the family, reportedly told police she awoke to “strange noises.” She saw someone downstairs. However, she assumed it was her adult son and went back to sleep.

However, when the noises continued, to woman awoke again and went downstairs to investigate. She reportedly discovered a fire spreading across the first floor of the home. At that point, the woman evacuated her family. Furthermore, one person reportedly jumped out of a second-floor window to escape the flames.

All six members of the family were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Unfortunately, two dogs perished in the blaze.

Per the outlet, authorities utilized nearby home surveillance and discovered a black sedan parked near the home on February 10. Ultimately, authorities utilized the footage to identify Harrison Jones as the man who set the fire. Furthermore, traffic cameras were reportedly used to track him down in Rockford, Michigan.

Additionally, cops determined that Jones wanted to target a 22-year-old man who lived at the Pennsylvania address. This is reportedly because the man had been dating Jones’ ex-girlfriend since 2023.

Furthermore, per the outlet, the man and Jones’ ex-girlfriend had upcoming plans to meet in person for the first time. Additionally, authorities reportedly believe Jones still had a relationship with his ex, who informed him of her dating life.

According to WZZM 13, Harrison Jones has now been charged with “six counts of attempted homicide, arson, risking catastrophe, and other related offenses.”

“We would especially like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the Bensalem Township Police Officers, Fire Investigators, and Bensalem Detectives who took a grainy image of a vehicle and turned it into the arrest of a suspect who traveled over 700 miles and 11+ hours each way to commit crimes that nearly cost six people their lives,” a statement from the Bensalem Police Department reads.

Per WoodTV.com, Jones is expected to be extradited to Pennsylvania to face his charges.
