‘Green rotten apples’ is the second book from the author. It mixes a classic fiction murder plot with non-fiction realities in today’s world of climate scare, energy transition dilemmas and subsequent geopolitical consequences. What makes it somewhat unique, is that it can be downloaded freely by everyone.

The story takes place in Oslo, Norway in 2029, where COP34 is to be arranged before X-mas. UN’s agenda is to sanction a ‘sooner rather than later’ global ban on fossil extraction. Strong forces pull in opposite directions as the summit approaches. Dead bodies start to surface.

Metal head, Porsche-enthusiast and murder investigator Odin Å in Norway’s special police unit (Kripos) takes the case. Together with his team, they hunt the murderer and the puppet masters in the shadows. Activism on both sides makes the picture blurry and there are indications of rotten apples also within the police.

The book has a firm and conventional timeline towards the conference in November/December 29, but the author makes extensive use of flashbacks in time to develop characters and give clues to the mystery. Bullying and harassment on various levels is a thread throughout the book.

Another characteristic is significant use of chronicles and op-eds, to present the science and energy realities. Some of these are real op-eds published in Norwegian newspapers by the author, some are rejected op-eds, and some are pure fiction (footnotes make it clear which is which). The book also makes a number of references to the IPCC scientific reports, Nordhaus’ DICE model, Pielke Jr, Vaclav Smil etc.

A main message is to show how dependent the world is on fossil fuels, how hard it will be to replace it, how scared the green activists are – and why. In a situation where both sides believe the world would end quickly, if their view lose during the summit, COP34 lays the foundation for massive conflict. Without giving away too much; Oslo develops into a battle ground, as has been seen on similar occasions of COP, G7/G8 etc.

If you like books like Michael Crichton’s State of Fear, books by Jon Pepper or Bjørn Lomborg, this may be something for you. If you like music, or even metal/rock, it’s even more for you. And if you like a dash of humor or dark humor, the door is wide open. Artistic advisors’ feedback during the writing/review process described it as a high pace cliffhanger bonanza, hard to put down. Short, easy to read, chapters.

The book was offered to all main publishers in Norway, but the lack of political correctness probably made this a fool’s errand.
