Belgium: The Standard hotel brand is set to make its Belgian debut with the opening of The Standard, Brussels, a 200-room property in the Northern Quarter.

The opening, scheduled for May, marks The Standard’s third European property, following London and Ibiza which opened in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

It will form part of the ZIN redevelopment project, a mixed-use complex transforming the former World Trade Center site. The 28-floor hotel has been designed in collaboration with Jaspers-Eyers Architects and Bernard Dubois Architects, alongside The Standard’s in-house design team led by Verena Haller.

For the first time, The Standard will introduce extended-stay suites, located on the top two floors. The fully furnished apartments will cater to long-term guests, offering workspaces, kitchenettes, 24/7 concierge and weekly housekeeping.

It will also feature a botanical garden and three dining venues. The ground-floor restaurant, Double Standard, will offer American and Belgian bar fare, while a bar and restaurant on the 29th floor, Lila29, will provide panoramic views of Brussels.

Further developments are underway in Lisbon, Mexico City, Tulum and Pattaya along with branded residences opening in Miami, Lisbon, Mexico City, Phuket and Hua Hin.

Last year, Hyatt confirmed plans to acquire The Standard brand which now forms part of its lifestyle portfolio.
