Atomfall is Rebellion Developments’ biggest launch in the studio’s 32-year history. The title even proved more successful than the latest installment of the studio’s big IP; Sniper Elite.
Speaking to IGN, co-founder Jason Kingsley stated that reaching over one million players in a short time frame “speaks volumes for the creativity and dedication of the entire team” as well as the fact that they were willing to take the risk and it paid off this time around.
“To have surpassed the 1 million players in such a short space of time speaks volumes for the creativity and dedication of the entire team here at Rebellion. Our size and stability mean that we can take risks to create something as different as Atomfall. Happily, that risk is paying off.
We are a British company, and the game is a true reflection of that. Not only is it set in the lush, beautiful countryside but Atomfall also draws inspiration from so many classic British books, films and TV series.
We hope that players continue to enjoy exploring the world of Atomfall and are looking forward to future content for the game.”
Atomfall also benefited from launching on Game Pass, which no doubt boosted the title’s accessibility, but even so, Sniper Elite: Resistance also launched on Game Pass and didn’t get that same attention, proving that this British title was special in its own right.
In our review, we said: “Atomfall, at first glance, might be regarded as a Fallout clone, but the truth is it has a clear identity that makes it stand out from the pack of imitators. Its green and lush surroundings give it a unique flair, even if its story is still a bit by the numbers.”
