Denmark: Operator Citybox Hotels has signed a 240-room hotel in Kastrup, Copenhagen, in partnership with the real estate investment firm CapMan.
Citybox will take over operations of the Best Western Plus Copenhagen Airport before commencing renovations to transform it into a Citybox-branded hotel. The refurbished hotel is expected to open in 2026, pending planning approvals.
Located one metro stop from Copenhagen Airport and with direct access to the city centre, it aims to serve both leisure and business guests.
The project follows CapMan’s acquisition of a 28-hotel portfolio from Midstar, the largest Nordic hotel transaction to date. Citybox has secured a long-term management agreement with CapMan to operate the Copenhagen property.
Eivind Hjulstad, CEO of Citybox Hotels, said: “With this signing, we have reached an important milestone in our ambition to establish a presence in all the Scandinavian capitals. Copenhagen has long been a key target market for us, and this hotel is a strong addition to our growing portfolio. We sincerely appreciate the trust CapMan has placed in us, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
Thomas Laakso, partner at CapMan, added: “Citybox’s innovative, solution-oriented approach makes them an excellent partner. We are excited to transform this property into a vibrant, modern hotel catering to budget-conscious travellers.”
