During the film, Jason Momoa and Jack Black‘s characters end up in a boxing ring and a box lowers from the ceiling. A zombie falls out of the box and lands on a chicken. Jack‘s character Steve says, “Chicken jockey!”

The chicken jockey moment actually does happen in the video game Minecraft, but it’s a very rare occurrence that most fans never get the chance to see.

The second Steve says “chicken jockey,” audiences have been erupting into applause, but some crowds have taken things even further. Fans have been throwing their popcorn and other concessions around the auditorium. Some fans have been jumping over seats or standing on each other’s shoulders. One viral TikTok video even showed someone bringing a live chicken into the theater for the moment.

Police officers have been called into theaters and cinemas have been forced to stop the movie and kick out audience members due to the mayhem.

THR reports, “None of the country’s three top circuits have issued any warnings, and one top exhibitor says the vast majority of its showings have been without a major incident. That’s not to say there isn’t more cleanup than usual between showings. Part of the problem was that no one knew how big the movie was going to be, so didn’t know how much staff to bring in.”

A Minecraft Movie has been a massive success so far at the box office, bringing in over $193 million in North America after just six days.
