Our predicted MUFC XI for the EFL Cup third-round home game vs Barnsley is now in, with Erik ten Hag making some changes.

Manchester United begin their Carabao Cup campaign under the Old Trafford floodlights tomorrow evening, as Erik ten Hag looks to keep up his excellent trophy record since moving to the Red Devils.

Barnsley will present a tough test, with the League One club looking to bounce back from a poor result at the weekend. No doubt they’ll be well-travelled, receiving a heavy backing from their passionate fans who’ll make a great atmosphere inside the Theatre of Dreams.

The temptation here is to rotate heavily, though our manager likes to keep a solid core of first-team regulars together for these sort of matches. That said, we do believe we’ll see a couple of full debuts for two emerging stars.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get straight into our predicted team for this one…

Check out the predicted MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup home game vs Barnsley here:

Andre Onana will be kept in between the sticks here, despite the fact that Altay Bayindir is a more than capable back-up option.

Diogo Dalot will shift back over to a more comfortable right-back role, with Harry Amass starting over on the left-hand side of defence. Lisandro Martinez will play, assuming his back issue isn’t too serious, partnering Jonny Evans.

Manuel Ugarte will come in for his first start, with this cup game feeling like the perfect opportunity to ease the Uruguayan into life in his new surroundings. He’ll have young Toby Collyer sitting in alongside him, with Christian Eriksen providing the attacking quality slightly further up the field.

Joshua Zirkzee will continue to lead the line amid an injury crisis up top, with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho flanking the Dutchman on the wings.
