Ana María Fuster Lavín has just published her new book Malditas palabras (Editorial EDP University, 2024). It was presented at the XII International Congress of Microfiction (September 18-20) at the University of Puerto Rico in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The cover photo is by the author, taken in March 2023 at Cemitério dos Prazeres (Cemetery of Pleasures) in Lisbon, Portugal.

In his prologue to the novel, Conrado Zepeda Pallares (Mexican-Puerto Rican writer and professor) writes:

Malditas palabras is the last installment of the narrative trilogy Carnaval de sangre [Carnival of Blood] by Puerto Rican writer Ana María Fuster Lavín. Symbols flow in a river of blood—metaphorical and hyper-realistic—in this text, which is as universal as it is local, as Puerto Rican as it is selenic. Fuster Lavín’s intimate and multi-chronicle literature calls us to participate in the paradox that is posed by the hesitation of living on the edge or not, of living in peace or not, of living, of being thinking-feeling people, observers of injustices, alienation, and oblivion.
