There will be a special screening of Turning Point for Black History Month at London’s Riverside Studios in Hammersmith on October 19, 2024, starting at 2:00pm.  The screening will be followed by a Q&A led by writer/director Tony T. [Seats cost £6.50. See links below for more information and bookings.]

Description (Riverside Studios): Created by Sweet Patootee Arts, TURNING POINT is a Black heritage comedy melodrama which tells the story of four individuals in 1920s Barbados and Jamaica. It is inspired by oral histories about the Black Caribbean experience after the First World War, and features performances by high-profile actors and rising stars against a backdrop of archive footage and a soundscape of community participant voices.

Featuring performances from Paterson Joseph (The Beach, Vigil, Noughts + Crosses), Suzette Llewellyn (Holby City, Eastenders, Surgical Spirit), Ashley D. Gayle and Veronica Beatrice Lewis. [. . .]

Our touring programme for TURNING POINT has now arrived in London as planned; from now until end of 2025 our exhibitions and screenings at diverse venues across the city will be catalysts for partner-led public heritage workshops inspired by our storytelling.

The partner-led activities in our schedule are all free and include dementia support workshops; dance; Caribbean folk singing; intergenerational oral history… In addition, Schools History learning resources inspired by this project (created by teachers) are now available to download for free from our website.
