A journalist research company, Journo Report, along with OffRobe, analyzed over 80 worldwide destinations to identify the best cities for heartbroken people to recover. The study compared cities worldwide across key metrics, including the number of international visitors, safety index, hotel and meal prices for one person, number of nightlife establishments, and single-person households. The final score is calculated based on all of the criteria described.

The best city for heartbroken people to recover is Hong Kong, with a score of 59.5, reflecting affordability and high safety. The city sees the most international visitors in the ranking, with over 29.2 million people visiting Hong Kong yearly. With so many tourists, the city still maintains the highest safety index. Hotel prices in Hong Kong are expensive, costing around $236 for one night, but the city compensates for this with affordable food options and over 200 bars and nightclubs to choose from.

London, United Kingdom, ranks second in the list of the best cities for heartbroken people to recover in, getting a score of 59.01. Over 19.2 million people travel to London each year, 10 million less than to Hong Kong. The hotel prices here are a little cheaper than in Hong Kong but there are three times more bars and nightclubs to visit in the UK capital.

New York City takes third place, scoring 52.03. The city has one of the most expensive hotel prices at $306 on average, but NYC welcomes over 13.6 million visitors yearly and offers 205 bars and nightclubs, similar to Hong Kong. More people here live alone than in London or Hong Kong, with 31% providing a better chance to meet new friends or new love.

Zurich, Switzerland, follows closely, with fourth place and a score of 51.98. The city has the same hotel prices as London, but food here is a little more expensive. Zurich is the second safest city on the list, closely following Hong Kong, making solo travel easier. 37% of the population here lives alone, creating excellent grounds for new relationships.

Seoul, South Korea, is fifth in the ranking of the best cities for heartbroken people to recover in, with a score of 51.3. Another city with high safety, Seoul welcomes 8.4 million visitors each year, 3.5 times more than Zurich. The city has the most affordable prices for solo travel: $45 for a hotel room for one person and $31 for all meal costs during the day.

Milan, Italy, holds sixth place, with a score of 50.23. The city requires more hotel expenses than Hong Kong or London but offers 366 bars and nightclubs to visit. A popular destination for people from all over the world, Milan sees 6.4 million visitors each year.

In seventh place is Geneva, Switzerland, earning a score of 50.02. The city doesn’t get many tourists, making it a perfect destination for those who prefer quieter spots. Geneva has a high safety index of 69.6 and almost 40 bars and nightclubs to visit. Just as in Zurich, 37% of people live by themselves, providing an opportunity for new connections.

Rome, Italy, takes eighth place, earning a score of 48.97. The capital of Italy welcomes over 10 million visitors each year, more than Seoul or Milan, and has many spots to visit, including 423 bars and restaurants throughout the city. Rome is also much more affordable than Milan, with only $99 per hotel room for one on average.

Amsterdam, Netherlands, holds the ninth spot, with a score of 48.72. The city has 8.3 million visitors each year, similar to Seoul, but the hotel prices are three times higher, at $141 for the night. 39.2% of the people in Amsterdam live alone, the second-highest number after Seoul.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, closes the ranking with tenth place and a score of 46.78. The hotel prices here are similar to Zurich’s, but the food is a little more affordable: $51 for a day. The city offers many tourist attractions, including 83 bars and nightclubs for those who are ready to dive into the nightlife.
