I admit it! I’ve been having a hard time since the last election. So I took a long hard look at what’s going on and—surprise—it’s not just about that. It’s that I have been saving every penny I can for years to someday be able to afford to retire from my day job work. I’m so close to my goals I can almost taste it (on a good day). But since the election, my ability to visualize the future I want went poof! There is so much uncertainty about what’s going to happen and what the result will be that my peace of mind has been shot. So the healing support I want for the coming year is exactly that—peace of mind.
I have MANY formulas and individual essences good for that. Nicotiana was the first to come to mind. That’s a key ingredient in my Restful Nights formula along with Spikenard essential oil in the scented oil form so I’ve been using that before bed at night with some useful results. My Releasing Worry and Fear formula also came to mind (but I was already using that). And also Elm for soothing overwhelm and putting the burdens of life down so you can rest and rejuvenate. All useful choices. But NOT when it comes to the ability to dream about the future I want to create.
So I decided to trust my guidance and came up with Sweet Chestnut, Honeysuckle, and Scotch Broom. These are NOT what I would have chosen intellectually but they feel very right. Sweet Chestnut is for the despair that comes from fear of immanent devastation without a clue of what to do about it. Honeysuckle is for not being able to let go of the past. Longing for that life keeps you from being present and able to imagine what you want to do next. Scotch Broom is for optimism and clarity when you are in despair about the state of the world and your ability to do anything about it.
I’ve been using this combination for a few days with interesting results. 1) I started to want to do art again after a very long break and I did do that all day yesterday and part of today. 2) Because of the desire to do art I took a break from watching the news or social media scrolling, and that’s exactly the self-care I need right now. 3) I bought stamped postcards from the post office and wrote out things I wanted to say to Joe Biden and members of Congress. The children’s game Rock, Paper, Scissors had popped into my mind when I made that last choice. Paper seems useless, but in that game it can beat the rock. This was an unbidden thought so I decided to take it as an internally-proposed mindset switch to make use of paper to speak out. (Email would probably do as well but not if you want to reach key members of Congress who happen to be in other states.)
I don’t know whether this flower essence formula will help me be able to visualize the future I want for my life or not. But I do feel a lot better and saw myself making changes I didn’t imagine myself doing before. Seems like a good start to me.
If you want a flower essence formula to help you going into the new year, I can make you a custom formula from any flower essences on my list that you want (5 or less are recommended). If you need help choosing, I can use my intuition and dowsing skills in addition to my years of experience to help. Choose “Flower Essence Consultation and Formula” instead.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
