In the pods: Sara and Ben’s central conflict centered around Sara’s firm belief in the Black Lives Matter movement, which Ben claimed to be mostly ignorant of. Sara was also concerned about Ben’s faith, telling him that she is incredibly close with her sister, who is gay. She worried that Ben’s religion would be intolerant of the LGBTQ+ community, which would be a dealbreaker for her.
After these initial hiccups—and lots of promises from Ben to “educate” himself—the two decided to move forward with their relationship. Ben proposed, and Sara accepted.
Back home: We don’t see too much of Sara and Ben in episodes 7-9, though Sara does have a lovely experience with Ben’s friends. However, Sara becomes aware of a TikTok post accusing Ben of questionable behavior four years prior to the show. He claims the unnamed woman is “overreacting,” that they “never hooked up,” and that he “can’t remember” what happened between them.
“I don’t like that you don’t remember,” Sara responds. “How do you not remember?”
He claims he ghosted the TikTok user, to which Sara responds, “Why was she crying if you just ghosted her?”
That’s pretty much where we leave them, with Sara telling Ben, “If more comes out of this, if I find out there’s anything at all, I won’t be able to trust you. I’m telling you now, I need to know everything.” Another cliffhanger!
Joey & Monica
In the pods: Monica and Joey, a self-described golden retriever boyfriend, had the silliest relationship of all of the couples in the pods. They weren’t afraid to be goofy, dancing together (yes, through a wall) and making each other laugh. They were drama-free, if a little boring—though the most successful couples tend to be!
Back home: They were the first couple to get engaged on the show; so far, their future looks bright—at least if they can get Monica’s sister on board…
