Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos has been speaking about current Strasbourg and future Chelsea team-mate Mamadou Sarr.

The Blues agreed a deal in January with Strasbourg worth around £11.9m for the 19-year-old, who will join Chelsea this summer.

Sarr will go into Chelsea’s talented pool of centre backs, but it’s unclear at this stage what the club’s plan is for the teenager next season.

Santos full of praise for Sarr

Strasbourg are having a brilliant season, and following Friday night’s 4-2 win against Lyon they sit fifth in Ligue 1 and well in the race for Champions League football.

Liam Rosenior has got the team playing brilliant football, with both Santos and Sarr playing key roles in the teams success, as well as Djordje Petrovic.

Rosenoir has praised Sarr on a number of occasions and believes he can go on to become a top player, whilst Santos is also a fan of the centre back.

“I love Mamadou Sarr,” he told L’equipe.

“He’s only 19 years old, but he plays with a lot of personality and confidence.”

Sarr has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg this season, whilst he’s been capped twice by for the France Under-20 side.

The Frenchman only joined Strasbourg from Lyon last summer and the move to Chelsea continues the rapid rise in his career.

There’s set to be a lot of movement at centre back this summer with Axel Disasi set to leave the club, whilst it’s likely Trevoh Chalobah could follow him through the exit door.

Aaron Anselmino will likely go on loan, but despite Sarr’s arrival Chelsea are also set to sign another centre back, with the Blues linked with both Jules Kounde and Marc Guehi.

Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is another target, but the Blues are said to be out of the race with the teenager preferring a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
