New Tool Makes Finding Your Perfect Shotgun Easy

0

 What is the Shotgun Finder?

The shotgun finder is essentially a database of current production shotguns available on the market. We currently have 500+ shotguns listed and will add new ones as they are released. This isn’t just a list of guns – This is a powerful research tool as well.

How does the Shotgun Finder work?

You begin your experience by selecting a series of filters based on what type of shooter you are, and what type of shooting you’re looking to get a shotgun for. You can see the filters below. As you select filters, different guns auto-populate below in the results area. The more filters you dial in, the fewer options you have to sift through!

The intended use filter has everything from snow goose hunting to skeet shooting. Pretty much any shotgun discipline that calls for a specific shotgun is included in this filter. The same is true for the Action/Type filter. Gas, inertia, O/U, pump: You name it and this tool can show you the perfect shotgun. The beauty of the filters is that maybe you know you want a semi-auto, but don’t care if it’s a gas or inertia system. You’d simply select “Semi-Auto ALL” and carry on with your search.

A very common question we get is “What is the best waterfowl shotgun for less than $1,500”. With this site, you can easily select “Waterfowl” shotguns, and type in your max price. There is absolutely nothing else like this to make your shotgun research simple.

Another question we get a lot has to do with lefties asking what shotguns they’re able to shoot. We’ve added a “Left hand available” toggle so that you lefties can see guns just for you!

Value Ratings and Overall Scores

You’ll notice that with the TFL-reviewed guns, there is a “Value rating” and an “Overall score”. These are derived from our famous SOSA TEST where we score shotguns 1-10 across 5 categories. (Looks, recoil, ergonomics, build quality, shooting vibes) The SOSA scorecard (see below) also has a handicap column, where points are deducted based on the price of the gun. For example, a $2,000+ shotgun gets a -7 handicap. All that to say, the “Value rating” is out of 5, and accounts for the price handicap whereas the “Overall score” is out of 10 and does not account for the price. There is a filter for you to sort your search results by score so that the highest scores appear at the top of the page!

The Product Page

Seeing your filtered results is great, but the fun doesn’t end there. To learn more about a specific shotgun that catches your eye, simply click on the shotgun to enter the product page. (see below)

Here, you’ll get a larger image of the shotgun, a video if we’ve reviewed it, and a quick look at the specs and MSRP. If you scroll down a bit, you’ll see the scores, a TFL review summary, and a manufacturer summary (as it would appear on their website)

We are stoked to share this tool with you guys. We worked really hard on the Shotgun Finder and we hope it will deliver value to you, or someone you know! Please check out the website, mess around, and let us know how we can improve the Shotgun Finder! There is a feedback link on the bottom left of the Shotgun Finder website. (Browse Shotgun Finder Here)

Whether our targets in the field or our targets in life, we will only hit what we are focused on, so live the #targetfocusedlife

Steve Kerr: There’s a lot of examples of being angry at Draymond Green

0

Charles Barkley: “I don’t think Kevin Durant wants to be a leader. He just wants to play basketball, and that’s fine, but somebody on that team has to step up and be the leader. It worked in Golden State because they had Steph Curry and Draymond Green to lead. But in Phoenix, someone needs to take that role, and in my opinion, it has to be Devin Booker. You can’t have a team without a leader. Kevin just wants to hoop, and that’s fine, but Devin has to take on that leadership role if they want to win a championship.” -via YouTube / September 10, 2024

DOD Awards $1.4 Million to Lab-Grown Meat Company

0

The Department of Defense granted $1.4 million to a lab-grown meat company.

The award to the Better Meat Company, based in West Sacramento, California, along with other companies, is part of the White House’s Executive Order 14081, “Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy.”

According to the 2022 executive order, biotechnology and biomanufacturing can be used to “achieve our climate and energy goals, improve food security and sustainability, secure our supply chains, and grow the economy across all of America.”

Companies will receive “funding to produce business and technical plans that detail construction of domestic bioindustrial manufacturing production facilities under the Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA), a contract vehicle awarded and overseen by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy,” according to the DOD.

The awards aim to help build “resilient supply chains and address emerging threats,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Resilience Carla Zeppieri.

Paul Shapiro, CEO of The Better Meat Company, said the United States will be “greatly advantaged by taking a leadership role in biomanufacturing, especially when it comes to efficient, innovative methods of food production.”

The Better Company Meat Company uses protein from fermented fungi to create its fake meat. The lab-grown meat product is called Rhiza.

Earlier this year, the DOD sought to give service members lab-grown protein.

The DOD has since backed down from the effort.

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) announced in July that after “weeks of engaging with Congress and speaking out against this plan, we are thrilled to have DoD confirmation that lab-grown protein is not on the menu for our nation’s servicemembers. These men and women make the greatest sacrifices every day in service to our country and they deserve high-quality, nutritious, and wholesome food like real beef grown by American farmers and ranchers.”

NCBA Senior Director of Government Affairs Sigrid Johannes said that while the DOD “can and should be on the cutting edge of science,” there is a “big difference between industrial or defense applications and the food we put in our bodies. U.S. farmers and ranchers are more than capable of meeting the military’s need for high-quality protein.”

Best Cities for a Winter Getaway

With so many great places to visit in the winter, there are no wrong answers. But to help you out, here’s our guide to the best winter vacations in the U.S.

1. Savannah, Georgia

With fewer tourists but just as stunning as every other time of year, Savannah makes for one of the best winter getaways. The mild winter temperatures see the daily high never drop below the 60s, making it the perfect balance for those who love to rug up but still want to go explore. With your warm scarf wrapped around your neck, enjoy the crisp southern air as you wander down charming cobblestone boulevards, flanked by Antebellum mansions and moss-covered oaks. Just a short distance away, you can explore the beautiful Tybee Island.

During the day, take in the museums and captivating antique stores in the Historic District, visit some of the eerily beautiful cemeteries, or even make the trip to Tybee Island. At night try the selection of fabulous restaurants, embark on a ghost tour, or sample the happening nightlife.

There is an air of festivity that can easily warm your chilly bones, with many festivals and events that spread the cheer far and wide. Chicago is home to Winter Wonderfest, an annual winter carnival offering a buffet of fun experiences, along with art, food, and culture. Perhaps the highlight is ice skating in Millenium Park. This is exactly why it’s the time to visit. Anchorage sees about five hours of sunlight during the winter season. But you know what that leaves room for, the spectacular Northern Lights. After experiencing that dazzling display, you’ll have your choice of exciting winter activities that you may not usually have the chance to do. Those include heading out to the lakes for ice fishing, joining an unforgettable dog sledding tour, or embarking on some cross-country skiing.
