iOS 18 Launches Today! See The Eligible Devices

0

Today marks the global release of iOS 18, and Apple users everywhere are preparing to receive the much-anticipated software update. The update will be available to a range of iPhones, and we’ve detailed which devices are eligible for this latest version. Set to launch at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, and 5 PM UTC, the rollout will occur simultaneously, bringing new features and enhancements to millions of users around the world. With expectations high, iOS 18 promises to deliver a range of improvements in performance, security, and user experience across supported devices.

iOS 18 is Rolling Out For a Wide Range of Devices

The oldest iPhones compatible with iOS 18 are the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, which debuted six years ago in September 2018. If your device was released in 2018 or later, you’ll be able to download the new update through your settings. As is common with large rollouts, the update might not appear immediately, since it’s being distributed to millions of users at the same time. To check manually, head to Settings -> General -> Software Update to see if iOS 18 is available for your device.

Gizchina News of the week

Here’s a list of iPhones that support iOS 18:

  • iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max

  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
  • iPhone SE (2022), iPhone SE (2020)

If you’re only concerned with security, you don’t need to update to iOS 18. Apple will continue releasing security updates for iPhones running iOS 17.7, which is also available starting today. It’s also worth noting that Apple Intelligence will not be included in the initial iOS 18 release. Instead, this feature will arrive with iOS 18.1. The update might roll out sometime next month, though the exact date is still to be announced. However, if you’re in the EU or China, these AI-powered features likely won’t be available on your iPhone anytime soon.

Private Transfer from Incheon Airport to Seoul Hotels

The most hassle-free way to reach your Seoul hotel from Incheon Airport Korea is to take a private transfer, this is especially true for anyone on their first visit to the city of Seoul.

Downtown Seoul
Myeong-Dong area of Seoul

After a long flight, nothing is more comforting than entering the arrivals hall and seeing your driver holding your name card. Once in your car you can relax knowing that your journey is almost over, as you are safely driven to your hotel.

Choosing a private transfer removes the stress of having to negotiate with a taxi driver and takes away the worry of being scammed.

Incheon Airport to Seoul Distance by Car

The driving distance from Seoul Incheon Airport to Seoul city centre is 59 km and takes around an hour if you travel outside peak hours.

During peak hours (6:30am – 9:30am & 3pm – 7pm) travel slows to a snail’s pace as the highway becomes congested with traffic, stretching the journey to two hours or sometimes longer.

This time difference is something that needs to be taken into consideration if you are planning to hire a car, take a taxi or the airport bus and driving the distance from Incheon Airport to Seoul.

AREX Express Train from Incheon (ICN) Airport to Seoul

By far the quickest Incheon International Airport – Seoul transfer would have to be the AREX Express Train. This convenient Incheon International – Seoul airport express train leaves from both Terminal 1 & 2 and travels to Seoul Station.

The AREX Express Train takes between 45 to 50 minutes to reach Seoul Station depending on whether you arrive at Terminal 1 or 2. Trains leave Incheon International Airport between 5:15 am and 10:40pm daily with fewer services on weekends and public holidays.

The orange AREX express train ticket machine

Trains depart every 40 minutes (later for weekends & holidays), and seats need to be assigned to each passenger before travel. This can either be done on arrival at the orange ticket machines at the entry to the concourse or prebooked online prior to travel.

During our visit, we chose to prebook online as it allowed us to arrive without the fuss of currency exchange. The process was easy, we downloaded the ticket voucher via the app on our phone and scanned it at the orange ticket machine near the train station.

We were surprised that the train was quite reasonable in price, costing us less than $10 Australian, a bargain compared to other airport express trains around the world. We also found that it was cheaper to buy a pre-booked ticket voucher than buying a ticket from the ticket machine on the day.

The train carriage had a large luggage bay and small area for overhead luggage storage. Our allocated seats were comfortable, and we had a relaxing train ride to Seoul Station in the city centre.

Onward Transport From Seoul Station

Seoul Station is not only the final stop for the AREX Express Train from Incheon Airport but also a hub for Korean intercity train travel. The station also connects to Seoul metro lines 1 and 4, which provides easy access around the city.

The best way to get the most out of taking the AREX Express Train from Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station is to stay at one of the nearby hotels. There are a few hotels within walking distance to Seoul Station and one of the best would have to be the Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Station.

If you plan to stay in a different part of the city there are other methods for getting to your hotel from Seoul Station, these include taxi and taking the subway.

Taxi from Seoul Station

You will find taxi ranks at Exit 1 and Exit 3 of Seoul Station with each taking passengers to various locations within the city. Directions to the exits are signed as you leave the train station.

Subway Lines from Seoul Station

Seoul Station has connections to Seoul subway line 1 and 4. Line 1 connects to City Hall and line 4 connects to the lively Myeong-Dong area.

One thing to keep in mind when taking the subway is that there are a lot of stairs exiting the subway stations. Lifts were either unavailable or hidden and not easy to find. We often saw people struggling with large suitcases up the stairs.

Bus from Incheon Airport to Seoul

There are a range of Incheon Airport bus schedules that will take you to destinations across the city. We chose to take the 6015 Airport Limousine Bus because it was heading from Incheon Airport to the Myeong-Dong area of Seoul.

In fact, as luck would have it, there was a bus stop right in front of our accommodation, the Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong Hotel, which is across the road from the LOTTE Department Store Main Store. The hotel was in a fabulous location right in the heart of the vibrant Myeong-Dong area which is full of shops, restaurants, and street markets.

Seoul Airport Limousine Bus
Airport Limousine Bus

We purchased the tickets for the Airport Limousine Bus at the ticket booth outside Exit 6 in the arrival’s hall. After getting our tickets we searched for stand 6015, which displayed all the stops along the route. There were many buses to different areas it is just a matter of finding the right destination for you.

Be aware that the tickets from the airport can only be purchased at the ticket booth, the driver will not take any money or cards. Seats were extremely comfortable and roomy, almost putting us to sleep immediately.

Being outside of peak hour it took around an hour to get from Incheon Airport to our bus stop at the Ibis Hotel Myungdong. To stop the bus, you must press a buzzer, which was a little hard to find, but it turned out to be a red buzzer above the window.

Ros & Alan on the Incheon Airport bus
Ros & Alan on the Incheon Airport bus

The return Seoul to Incheon Airport bus allowed us to pay at the bus stop. Again, we were extremely lucky as the bus stop was the same one in front of our hotel. However, this time we were heading into peak hour, and we got to experience a much slower drive out to the airport. This time the journey took over an hour and a half.

There are a variety of bus lines going to different areas of Seoul. You can pre-book your bus ticket before you leave home.

If you would like to pre-book your bus ticket click here

Taxi from Incheon Airport to Seoul

Incheon International Airport taxis have a bad reputation for scamming tourists, often taking passengers on a long, drawn-out route to the hotel and charging astronomical prices for the fare.

If you do decide to take a taxi, be aware that there are late-night charges from 11pm to 4am that can range from 20% to 40% extra on the base taxi fare.

Incheon Airport and Gimpo Airport to Seoul Station

The AREX All Stop Train from Incheon Airport is another choice of transport to Seoul Station. This all stop train also has Gimpo International Airport along its route. This is a convenient option for anyone arriving or leaving from Incheon Airport and Gimpo Airport.

Although cheaper the All Stop Train is not as comfortable as the AREX Express Train. The carriage is a subway car with limited seating and a lot of standing room. The All Stop Train takes around an hour to make the journey from Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station.

If you are flying into Gimpo International Airport, the AREX All Stop Train is a short 25-minute train ride to Seoul Station.

Last Words On How To Get From Incheon Airport to Seoul

We hope this article has helped give you a better perspective of the transport options available from Incheon Airport to Seoul.

As I said in the beginning, the easiest choice is to take a private airport transfer from the airport to your hotel. We can also highly recommend the AREX Airport Express Train, especially if you are staying around the Seoul Station area.

The 6015 Airport Limousine Bus is perfect for anyone staying at the Ibis Ambassador Myeongdong Hotel as long as you take peak hour traffic into consideration.

Enjoy your stay in Seoul, it is a vibrant city filled with history, nightlife, food, and shopping. While there, make sure to take a DMZ day tour which is one of the most fascinating day trips we have ever taken. Have you visited Seoul? What is your favourite form of transport from Incheon Airport to Seoul?

Infineon Introduces World’s First 300 mm GaN Power Technology

0

Infineon Technologies has developed the world’s first 300 mm gallium nitride (GaN) wafer technology, marking a significant milestone in the power semiconductor industry. By leveraging its existing 300 mm silicon manufacturing infrastructure, Infineon has created a scalable, high-volume production process that enhances cost-efficiency.

The 300 mm GaN wafers offer 2.3 times more chips per wafer compared to 200 mm wafers, improving production efficiency and device performance. This innovation positions Infineon as a leader in the rapidly growing GaN market, which is projected to reach several billion dollars by the end of the decade.

GaN-based power semiconductors are gaining traction across various sectors, including industrial, automotive, consumer electronics, AI power supplies, solar inverters, and motor-control systems. GaN technology offers significant advantages, such as increased energy efficiency, reduced size and weight, and lower overall costs for end users. The new 300 mm GaN wafers ensure greater supply stability and scalability, making them ideal for growing market demands.

Infineon’s integration of 300 mm GaN wafers into its existing silicon production lines in Villach, Austria, demonstrates the company’s expertise in both GaN and silicon-based semiconductors. This breakthrough also paves the way for cost parity between GaN and silicon, particularly in terms of comparable R DS(on) levels. First look at the renovated Renaissance Orlando at Disney Springs

0

If you like to use your points to stay at Disney World, there’s a new player in town: the Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa, located at Disney Springs.

Thanks to a recent $25 million rebrand and renovation that involved the lobby, guest rooms and more, what was formerly known as the B Resort & Spa now has a fresh look and feel and is returning as the Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa. This means there is now another option for using your Marriott points while staying on Disney property and enjoying some Disney-related perks, as this property is an official Disney hotel.

As an Orlando area local who is always looking for some well-located and value-oriented places to stay when I want to crash at the parks, I decided to take a peek at this property a few weeks ago. Here’s what it’s like.

Location of Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa

Your hotel is either on Disney property or it isn’t, and given Orlando’s traffic, it’s ideal to be within the park. So it’s especially nice that the Renaissance Orlando sits on the aptly named Hotel Plaza Boulevard in the Disney Springs resort area. This area features six other hotels from major chains, including Hilton, Drury Hotels, Holiday Inn and Wyndham, so you really have your pick of some budget-friendly and points-friendly options here.

If you plan to visit Disney Springs on your trip, the hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the Disney Springs shopping and dining area. While this is convenient, I’m unsure if I would want to take this walk on the same day that I had a long stretch of walking in the parks; you can always take the resort’s complimentary bus transportation instead.

Disney Springs. MADISON BLANCAFLOR/THE POINTS GUY

What it’s like inside Renaissance Orlando

During my stay a few weeks ago, it was clear that Renaissance Orlando had indeed had a makeover since its former life as the B Resort.

Like most of the other Disney Springs hotels, this one doesn’t have all-immersive Disney theming, but it does have a notably Floridian vibe with palm leaves, wood accents and subtle tropical character.

There was a cute little cafe in the lobby where I was able to grab a quick breakfast consisting of an iced latte and pastry, and it was also stocked with other grab-and-go options like fruit, cereal and granola bars — ideal for some quick energy during longer park days. While I didn’t have time to dine here on this trip, I’ll note that there is also the American Kitchen Bar & Grill that’s open for sit-down breakfast, lunch and dinner.

SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY

When it comes to the rooms, I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and some of the bright, modern design elements of my 11th-floor room, which overlooked the resort’s pool.

LAUREN WASSUM/THE POINTS GUY

The room’s features would likely suit the needs of anyone going on a Disney vacation. It had a good air-conditioning system that kept it quite cool, deep drawers for ample storage, plenty of standard power outlets for charging electronics, portable fans and a decent-sized closet.

There were also a mini fridge and a coffeemaker, both of which were basic but functional. The bathroom was also an impressive size for a budget-friendly hotel, with a large shower and refillable tubes of Aveda shampoo, conditioner and bodywash that smelled absolutely delightful.

The room did feel like it was recently outfitted with some new decor and furnishings — rather than being a whole new build — and they were perfectly serviceable and comfortable.

Disney-related perks of staying at the Renaissance Orlando

SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY

In addition to proximity to Disney Springs and included shuttle service to the parks, staying at a Disney Springs hotel such as Renaissance Orlando means that you get access to Early Entry into the four Disney World theme parks 30 minutes early every day. This can be a great way to get a quick start on your day and knock out a few rides while the wait times are lower.

Best way to book Renaissance Orlando

Since this is a Marriott hotel, you can easily earn or redeem points for your stay.

The standard base room rates often range from $149 to $189 per night, with suites for larger parties in the $400 to $450 range. I was able to snag my August one-night stay on the lower end of the spectrum at $159. It is important to note that there was a daily $45 resort fee on top of the room rate. This included Disney perks like the shuttle service to Disney Springs and Disney theme parks.

In addition, there was an overnight self-parking fee of $25. These extra costs increased the true cost of my one-night stay from $159 to $256.14, with taxes included.

If you want to book using Marriott points, you can often expect to use 30,000 to 40,000 points, which is a pretty solid deal for a Walt Disney World vacation, if you ask me.

Plus, if you have an eligible Marriott Bonvoy cobranded credit card, you may also be able to use those increasingly hard-to-maximize Marriott 35,000-point free night certificates. You can add up to 15,000 Marriott points to those certificates, which means that most nights are eligible either just with the certificate or with a few added Marriott points.

Bottom line

My quick one-night stay at the Renaissance Orlando Resort & Spa at Disney Springs actually impressed me.

SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY

If your idea of a Disney vacation includes waking up directly in the heart of a themed resort, you may find the Renaissance’s more subdued contemporary theme less immersive. It’s also not the best choice if you want superdeluxe accommodations or an expansive pool area for you or your kids to enjoy during your downtime (the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a top nearby points-friendly pick for a fab pool).

However, if you want to balance booking a points-friendly hotel and location and get early entry each day into the Disney parks, the Renaissance Orlando at Disney Springs will provide you with the best of those worlds.

Wireless PSVR 2 Headset Spotted In New Leak

0

Update: PSX Extreme has been able to find the image throughout of the Wayback Machine, which at the time of writing the post was having technical difficulties.

Original story below:

A new leak has potentially outed Sony’s plan for a wireless PSVR 2 headset. Despite the less-than-stellar sales for the PS5 peripheral, it seems they want to try again.

Stemming from a PlayStation Blog post, users on Reddit noticed that the hot bar had a new icon that looked like battery life the headset itself. Of course, as it stands, the PSVR 2 isn’t wireless, making it weird to have something like that.

Since the post, the image has been altered to omit the headset icon. PSX Extreme cannot verify anything, but PSLS does share a screenshot, giving it a touch more credibility.

Despite strong specs, the PSVR 2 has seen a rather rough life and rather middling first-party support. Frankly, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony gives up on the market altogether after this generation is up.

Reseda–commonly called mignonette–is a sprawling annual usually grown for its spicy-sweet flower fragrance. Mignonette bears small greenish flowers often tinged with copper or yellow. The dense flower spikes become loose and open as they mature.

Reseda odorata is a good choice for borders where it can be planted in a mass to get the full effect of the fragrance. Mignonette can also be spotted around the garden for fragrance.

Good Products for Garden Care at Amazon:

Discover Something New on a Familiar Path

0

Have
you ever walked along a familiar path and suddenly noticed something you hadn’t
seen before? Perhaps it was a new road sign, a freshly repainted house, or a
newly opened store in your neighbourhood. Your first reaction might be,
“Wait, when did that happen?” New things have a way of stopping us in
our tracks and making us pay attention.

This is
the essence of Isaiah 43:19, which invites us to pause, take notice, and see
what God is doing—something new.

“See,
I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”(Isaiah
43:19)

God is
calling us into a new season in our walk with Him, one marked by righteousness
and truth. He longs to refresh our souls, which have often been left parched by
pursuing goals and desires that can never truly satisfy. He offers rest,
healing, and wholeness to our weary hearts. But to experience this newness, we must
let go of the old.

Here’s
how:

  •       Silence the lies of doubt: Often, the doubts we harbour
express themselves in our words. God calls us to offer the fruit of our lips as
a sacrifice, ensuring that our words are honourable and pleasing to Him.

  •       Stop looking to others for help: Remember that God alone is our
source. He is the vine, and we are the branches. We must draw our sustenance
and strength from Him, not from people or things.

  •       Rest in His presence: Lay down every burden you
carry—your pain, anger, shame, regret, and uncertainty—and allow God to give
you the rest your soul needs.

  •       Trust in His plan: Even when you can’t see the complete
picture, trust that God guides your steps. Keep moving forward, knowing that He
    is directing your path.

  •       Continue to love, even when
    unnoticed:
    Love
as God loves, without seeking acknowledgment or praise. He sees your heart, and
    that’s what matters.

  •       Forgive the past and embrace the
    future:
    Let go
of past hurts and step into the glorious future God has prepared for you. He
has new and beautiful things ahead.

  •       Spend time with Him: Seek God daily through worship,
prayer, studying His Word, and simply listening to His voice. The more time we
spend with Him, the more we will recognize the new things He’s doing in our
    lives.

  •       Serve with joy: God delights in our service,
especially when we serve His people and His house with a joyful heart.

  •       Surround yourself with believers: Fellowship with other believers
and be a model of righteousness and God’s glory to all who see you.

  •       Listen to the Holy Spirit: Don’t ignore the Holy Spirit’s
gentle nudges. He is your guide and will always lead you in the right
    direction.

  •       Return to your first love: Remember the love you had for
God when you first came to know Him and return to that deep devotion and
    passion.

  •       Be who God created you to be: You are fearfully and
wonderfully made, designed to display God’s glory on earth. Embrace your unique
identity in Christ and live in the fullness of His calling for your life.

God is
inviting us to abide in Him by keeping His commandments, trusting His promises,
and walking closely with Him daily. Let’s not miss the new thing God is
doing—stop, take notice, and walk into this new season with joy and faith.

Best Ways To Make Money Baking

Below are the best ways to make money baking.

make money baking dog treats

1. Sell dog treats

Selling dog treats is a fun way to make money. If you love dogs and baking, this is a perfect match. You can make treats from home and sell them online, at local markets, or even work at a dog treat bakery.

I have bought many dog treats over the years, and I think it’s a wonderful business and baking side hustle!

You can start by finding easy recipes, such as this free peanut butter dog treat recipe. You’ll want to use ingredients safe for dogs like peanut butter, pumpkin, and oats (don’t forget to label the ingredients in case some dogs have allergies), and you can find many recipes online that are easy to follow.

Packaging is important too when it comes to dog treats. You may want to use cute bags or boxes to make your treats look special.

To get customers, you can advertise your treats on social media, such as by posting pictures and videos of your baking process.

You can learn more about this topic at How I Make Up to $4,000 Per Month Baking Dog Treats (With Zero Baking Experience!). Plus, you can sign up for this free training workshop that will teach you how to start your own side hustle baking and selling dog treats.

This free workshop will teach you how to start your own dog treat bakery business.

2. Sell custom cakes

Selling custom cakes is a fun way to make money from home. People love ordering unique cakes for birthdays, weddings, and other special events. You can decorate cakes with different designs, colors, and themes to match any occasion.

To learn how to make custom cakes, you can start practicing your cake decorating skills by watching tutorials online or taking a class in person (there’s probably a company near you that teaches this skill!).

The better your cakes look, the more customers you’ll attract, so learning through trial and error and/or with tutorials and classes will go a long way.

To get customers, you can start social media accounts (I’ve seen several custom cake accounts on TikTok and Instagram, for example), and post in local Facebook groups (such as wedding groups or parent groups).

3. Host baking workshops

Hosting baking workshops can be a fun way to make money baking. You can invite people to your home or rent a small space. Teach them how to make cakes, cookies, or whatever you love to bake. They will pay to learn from you.

You can sell workshops for beginner or experienced bakers, and make your classes based on what people want to learn. You could even focus on themes like holiday baking or gluten-free recipes. This way, you can get more students interested.

You can share your workshops on social media and tell your friends to spread the word. You can also make flyers and put them in local stores or cafes (make sure to add pictures of your tasty baked goods to grab people’s attention).

Another idea is to host online workshops on sites like Skillshare and Udemy. This way, you can reach even more people who want to learn from the comfort of their own homes. Use video calls to teach and send out ingredient lists beforehand. You can even record the classes so participants can rewatch them later.

4. Start a baking blog

Starting a baking blog can be a fun way to share your passion for baking and make money at the same time.

With a blog, you can post recipes, share baking tips, and talk about your favorite tools and ingredients. This gives you a platform to connect with others who enjoy what you create (and recipes that they can recreate).

To begin, you’ll need to choose a niche (you can go wide or very specific – up to you). For example, you could focus on gluten-free baking, cake decorating, family meals, healthy meals, budget meal ideas, or bread recipes.

Once your blog is up and running, you can monetize it through affiliate marketing, ads, sponsored posts, and even selling your own products like ebooks or online courses.

Building a blog takes time and effort, but it can be a rewarding way to turn your baking passion into a steady income stream.

5. Become a food photographer

You can make money from home by working as a freelance food photographer. This means taking pictures of food for things like blogs, magazines, and ads.

Bloggers often hire photographers to make and photograph recipes for their blogs, using professional photos to make their posts look great.

Some food photographers earn $50,000 a year, and some even make over $100,000 working with bloggers.

6. Partner with local cafes and coffee shops

Partnering with local cafes can be a great way to make money with your baking. Cafes look for fresh, homemade treats to sell to their customers, and many times the treats are made by local bakers.

I have a friend who does this as her full-time business – she has a home bakery business and she makes the most delicious treats. She sells them on her website, but also to local restaurants near where she lives.

You can start by visiting local cafes and talking to the owners. Bring samples of your best baked goods. This way, they can taste your work and see the quality for themselves.

Once you have a few interested cafes, you can set up a supply schedule. Decide how often you’ll deliver baked goods and how much you’ll charge. Make sure to keep track of orders and deliveries to avoid mistakes.

Building a good relationship with cafe owners is important, so you will want to be reliable and deliver on time. Happy cafe owners are more likely to keep ordering from you and might even recommend you to other businesses.

7. Start a YouTube baking channel

Creating a YouTube baking channel is an exciting way to share your passion for baking while making money.

I have watched many baking YouTube videos over the years so that I can learn how to make a recipe. Many people just love baking shows too!

With video content, you can teach others how to bake, demonstrate fun recipes, and build a community of baking enthusiasts who love your style.

You can start by choosing a specific niche for your channel – whether it’s cake decorating, gluten-free baking, or quick and easy desserts. This helps attract viewers who are interested in exactly what you have to offer.

High-quality videos are key, so invest in good lighting and a decent camera, but don’t stress – you don’t need to be a pro to get started. Many popular baking channels started with basic equipment like their cell phone and grew over time.

8. Create an Instagram baking account

I have a friend who has a baking side hustle where she shares the recipes she’s made on her Instagram. Her recipes always look so good too!

Starting an Instagram baking account can help you make money from your baking skills through sponsored partnerships, affiliate marketing, and even by selling baked goods.

Instagram is perfect for visual content, so your beautifully decorated cakes, cookies, and pastries can really shine. Plus, it’s a great platform to connect with potential customers and others who love to bake.

9. Sell baked goods at farmers markets

Selling baked goods at farmers markets is a great way to make money. You can meet your customers face-to-face, which helps build a loyal customer base.

You can start by finding a local farmers market. You’ll need to know the rules and fees, which can usually be found on their website. Some markets may have special requirements for food sellers.

You could sell baked goods like cookies, muffins, bread, pies, and more.

There’s a small farmers market near where I live, and I try to go at least once a month to specifically buy bread from a home bakery that I love. They also sell dips and different kinds of butter for the bread too.

10. Sell baking ebooks

Selling baking ebooks is a great way to make money from your baking skills. With ebooks, you can share your favorite recipes and tips with a wide audience.

Creating an ebook takes some time. You’ll need to write down your recipes, take photos, and maybe even make some videos. Once it’s ready, you can sell it online.

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing is a popular platform where you can sell your ebook. It’s easy to use, and many people have had success with it.

Another option is to sell your ebook on your own website. This way, you keep more of the money from each sale. You can also create a blog to attract readers who might be interested in your ebook.

Even though it takes some work to create an ebook, it can be a good source of income. Once it’s done, you can keep selling it without much extra effort.

I have personally bought several books with recipes from “normal” people like you and me. They are personally my favorite ways to get new recipes. In fact, one of the things I like to do on my travels is buy a cooking book from a local author so that I can recreate local meals when I’m at home!

Getting Started With a Baking Business

Now that we have gone over 10 different ways to make money baking, I also wanted to talk about how you can get started with a new baking business.

When starting a baking business, you need to find your unique style, make your kitchen ready for baking, and get the equipment you need. These steps will help you turn your love for baking into a way to actually make money.

Note: The below won’t be everything that you need to do (or it may not be applicable to the bakery business idea that you are wanting), but it is a good start.

1. Finding your niche

Finding your baking niche means deciding what type of baked goods you want to specialize in. You could focus on cupcakes, bread, cookies, or even custom cakes for special events. Think about what you love to bake and what you’re best at.

If you enjoy making gluten-free or vegan desserts, that could be your niche. Selling something unique will make your business stand out, and it will also attract customers looking for specific types of baked goods.

2. Setting up your kitchen

The equipment you need will depend on what you plan on selling. But, overall, here are some tips to get started.

  • Clean your kitchen thoroughly to meet health standards.
  • Dedicate a section of your kitchen for baking supplies. This includes ingredients, baking pans, and mixing bowls. Labeling the shelves can help you quickly find what you need. If you’re limited on space, consider adding shelves or storage bins.
  • You may also need cooling racks, spatulas, and piping bags for decorating your baked goods.
  • Invest in quality items that will last. If new equipment costs too much, consider buying secondhand items in good condition.
  • Extra things like display cases and packaging materials are important. They help you present your baked goods attractively to customers. Good packaging also keeps your baked items fresh during delivery or pickup.

3. Marketing your baked goods

Marketing your bakery business can go a long way and help you to make more money.

Your brand is your bakery’s personality so I recommend that you make a catchy name and logo. Think of colors and fonts that match the feel of your baked goods.

Social media can help you reach many people fast too. Start with platforms like Instagram and Facebook, and post pictures of your baked goods.

4. Managing finances

When you run a baking business, handling your money well is key. You must price your products right, keep track of your expenses, and understand tax rules.

To make a profit, you need to set your prices carefully. Start by figuring out the cost of ingredients, packaging, and any special tools. Then, add in your labor costs.

A simple way to price is to use this formula:

(Cost of Ingredients + Labor + Overhead) x Markup = Sale Price

For example, if it costs $5 to make a baked good and you want a 50% profit, your markup might be 2x. So, the baked good should be $10.

5. Legal things to think about

There are some legal things that you will want to think about, such as:

  • Check if you need a business license in your area.
  • Keep records of all sales and expenses throughout the year. This will make it easier when tax time comes.
  • Taxes can be tricky, so hiring an accountant or using tax software can help you stay on track.

If you feel that this is over your head, I highly recommend finding a professional/expert in your local area to help you further.
